Description
BRINGING MORE COLOUR TO THE MOUNTAINS
From 27 to 29 March 2024, the PenkenPark in Mayrhofen will host Europe's first inclusive snowboard event, the 6290 SHOW UP!
The 6290 SHOW UP presented by TDI (@technicallydoingit), which will take place at the PenkenPark in Mayrhofen from 27 to 29 March 2024, is the first inclusive snowboard event in Europe. This unique event brings together well-known names from the snowboarding world, including top riders such as Zeb Powell and Rob Roethler (both USA). Respected personalities such as Selema Masekala (Chief of Sport Cultur/Host of the X Games and public figure) will also be there, as well as some of the best European riders.
The initiator of this special event is US-American Luis Medearis, who is living his dream and travelling the world to capture some of the best snowboarders on film. He is part of TDI, an all-coloured snowboard crew that includes Zeb Powell, Rob Roethler, Keir Dillon and many other talented riders. The crew creates space for people with different skin colours in snowboarding. Luis says about his motivation: "I see what happens when we're out on the mountains and events with TDI, the positive energy that comes from creating a diverse atmosphere. Bringing the snowboard community together and mixing cultures strengthens our sport and invites more people to learn to snowboard. "The European premiere of the 6290 Show Up is an important milestone for the community: "We're really looking forward to it, it's the perfect opportunity to pave the way to - in Zeb's words - "make the mountains more colorful". Diversity in snowboarding is steadily increasing and we want to build on that. The discussion about diversity in Europe has been rather quiet so far, we look forward to stimulating this discourse further."
The 6290 Show Up is supported by Burton, Oakley and DB Journey. The Chill Foundation, which is committed to supporting disadvantaged children and young people through board sports, will be there on the first day with a group of kids. The pro riders join the kids for an inclusive and inspiring day on the mountain. Experience the 6290 Show Up in Mayrhofen! All you need is a valid lift ticket.
